Latest imaging technology delivers faster, higher quality test results

St. Elizabeth’s Hospital uses the newest high-quality diagnostic and interventional imaging services to assist in the diagnosis of disease or injury.

St. Elizabeth’s Picture Archival Communication System (PACS) integrates all the diagnostic images and related reports created at its hospital and satellite facilities in O’Fallon and Monroe County, and stores them in one large database that is accessible to any of our doctors, whenever and wherever it is needed.  This means that our doctors have a more complete picture of a patient’s history, to aid in their diagnosis and treatment.

While PACS makes patients’ diagnostic images easily accessible, new imaging technology installed at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital is dramatically sharpening imaging quality, as well as improving the speed and comfort of the testing process itself.  Thanks to our new MRI scanner, our radiologists can obtain full body images in ultra-high resolution…quickly and quietly.

Assisted by the most experienced group in the metro east, Radiology Consultants of Mid-America, we acquire and interpret more than 120,000 images each year. St. Elizabeth’s is equipped to address a full-spectrum of imaging needs for both inpatients and outpatients, including:
  • Biopsies using CT scans, ultrasound and fluoroscopic procedures
  • Computed tomography (CT Scans), including coronary artery calcification scoring
  • Diagnostic x-rays
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
  • Mammography
  • Nuclear radiology for bone, thyroid and bilary scans and nuclear cardiology
  • Pain management services
  • Ultrasound

Our Imaging Services Department includes four new digital x-ray rooms, a portable digital x-ray unit, a digital 40 Slice CT Scanner and a digital MRI Unit.

A physician order is required for all radiology services. For more information, or to schedule an appointment, call 618-222-4639.
