Occupational Medicine
Helping injured workers get back on the job
Research shows that when workers feel good, their productivity increases. A healthy workplace is good for employees and employers alike.
That’s where St. Elizabeth’s Occupational Medicine Program comes in. Led by a physician, board-certified in emergency medicine, we focus exclusively on meeting the needs of employers and employees.
Our comprehensive menu of occupational medicine services includes:
Worker’s comp injury treatment and follow-up care — If you are injured on the job, you may find that your family doctor doesn’t provide care for work-related injuries. When you seek treatment here, our goal is to help you return to work as quickly as it is medically appropriate to do so. We accomplish this through treatment and follow-up care to get you functioning again, and providing the education needed to help prevent re-injury.
If you have a work-related injury or illness, you must provide us with a worker’s comp contact at your company, as well as billing and worker’s comp information.
Drug & alcohol testing — We provide drug and alcohol testing for companies, schools and government agencies. Some things you should know:
- You do not need a doctor’s order to have these tests taken. If the test is complete in our office, we will send the result to the organization you designate on your Release of Information form.
- The $30 to $50 cost for these tests cannot be billed to private insurance companies. If your employer has not made payment arrangements with us, we accept cash or checks at the time you complete the test, and will provide you with a paid receipt.
- These tests identify many prescription medicines, as well as illegal drugs. If your drug test is positive for a prescription medicine, our certified Medical Review Officer will contact you and ask for a copy of your prescription record from your pharmacy or physician. If you have a current, legal prescription, your test result will be reported as “negative.”
Pre-employment physicals — We provide pre-employment and regular physicals, including the specialized physicals required of school bus drivers and Department of Transportation workers. We keep the required forms and medical certificates needed for DOT physicals on file.
Health allings — We can tailor our services to meet the needs of your company and your employees, providing services either in our offices or at your work site. Pulmonary function testing, hearing tests, in-office laceration repairs are all available.
