BELLEVILLE, IL - In recent years, many rural Illinois hospitals have expressed a need for tele-medicine and tele-health services to better serve patients. Beginning this past summer, HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and 15 other hospitals formed the “Illinois CONNECT Rural Health Tele-Network” (Tele-CONNECT). Tele-CONNECT’s purpose is to coordinate and improve the access, quality and delivery of tele-medicine and tele-health services for patients in underserved and rural areas of central and southern Illinois.
HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Wound Care Center Celebrates Two Years of Healing

Belleville – HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Wound Care Center will be celebrating their second anniversary on December 18. This date not only serves as the anniversary of the Wound Care Center’s opening, but also marks the beginning of healing for many area residents who suffer from chronic or non healing wounds. Since opening in 2012, the Center has seen 558 new patients, and provided over 5940 wound care visits, resulting in over 700 healed wounds.

BELLEVILLE, IL - As a teaching hospital, HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital continually seeks to enhance the quality care provided to its patients by providing advanced educational training to its colleagues and to area students. Recently, St. Elizabeth’s Heart and Vascular Services staff were able to receive hands-on training on the internal structures of the heart, thanks to Prairie Cardiovascular electrophysiologist Paban Saha, MD, and a donation of pig hearts.
