St. Elizabeth’s Hospital offers free Diabetes Risk Tests on March 25

St. Elizabeth’s Hospital will provide free Diabetes Risk Tests on Tuesday, March 25, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in honor of American Diabetes Association Alert Day®. This national event is a “wake-up call” asking the American public to take the Diabetes Risk Test to find out if they are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes. The free tests will be located in the main hospital lobby, at 211 South Third Street Belleville, IL 62220 as well as in the Prairie Heart Institute lobby, at 340 West Lincoln Street. The Diabetes Risk Tests are available for all ages. Representatives from St. Elizabeth’s Diabetes Support Group, Wound Care Center and the American Diabetes Association will be present to answer questions individuals may have regarding diabetes nutritional education, diabetes support groups and wound/skin care tips for diabetic patients.

St. Elizabeth’s Hospital invites area community members to attend its Toastmasters International® Anniversary Celebration and Open House on Thursday, March 6th from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. in the Millennium Room of St. Elizabeth’s Medical Office Building A, at 340 W. Lincoln Street, Belleville, IL 62220. Guests will meet St. Elizabeth’s club members, learn how Toastmasters helps members improve communication and leadership skills, and enjoy light refreshments.


St. Elizabeth's Hospital receives Certification for Pediatric Patients in the Emergency Department

St. Elizabeth’s Hospital is pleased to announce that it has received Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP) Certification. Holding this certification reduces the need for pediatric patients to be transferred to other facilities by offering appropriate pediatric care close to home. St. Elizabeth’s chose to seek this specialized certification to ensure that St. Elizabeth’s Emergency Department stands ready to care for children of all ages, from birth to adolescents, in any pediatric emergency situation and has a strong foundation for disaster readiness.
