Belleville, IL — HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Emergent Stroke Ready Hospital (ESRH) Designation by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) has been continued. St. Elizabeth’s originally achieved this special designation in July 2014 by implementing emergency stroke care policies and procedures to align with nationally recognized evidence based standards and criteria, like those from the American Heart/Stroke Association and Brain Attack Coalition.

On Saturday, October 17, 2015 HSHS St. Elizabeth's Hospital and HSHS Home Care Southern Illinois will host a THINK PINK FOR BREAST HEALTH AWARENESS EVENT. The event will take place from 1-3 p.m. at St. Clair Square’s Center Court, next to the newly sponsored play area on the lower level.
IHA Honors HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital with 2015 Quality Excellence Achievement Award

The Illinois Hospital Association (IHA) recognized three hospitals and two health systems for innovative quality interventions, patient safety approaches and best practices designed to transform health care. HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital was recognized for “Eliminating Medically Unnecessary Blood Transfusions at a Community Teaching Hospital.” The entities were presented with the IHA Institute for Innovations in Care and Quality’s 2015 Quality Excellence Achievement Awards on September 11 at the fifth annual awards were presented during IHA’s Leadership Summit in Lombard.

Melissa Gray, RN, Receives DAISY Award For Extraordinary Nurses

HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital awarded Melissa Gray, a Registered Nurse from the Rehabilitation Unit, the DAISY Award For Extraordinary Nurses on August 10, 2015. The award is part of the DAISY Foundation's nationwide program to recognize the super-human efforts nurses perform everyday. Gray is the second recipient at the hospital since implementing the program in May 2015.

Belleville, IL - HSHS St. Elizabeth's Hospital recently welcomed 23 RN Residents to St. Elizabeth’s nursing team. As a teaching hospital, St. Elizabeth's is privileged to take part in the national Versant RN Resident Program, which is a comprehensive, evidence-based onboarding of new graduate nurses. The program helps nurses gain the experience, critical reasoning, skills and confidence they need to navigate the complexity of a hospital health care setting.
