BELLEVILLE, IL - As a teaching hospital, HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital continually seeks to enhance the quality care provided to its patients by providing advanced educational training to its colleagues and to area students. Recently, St. Elizabeth’s Heart and Vascular Services staff were able to receive hands-on training on the internal structures of the heart, thanks to Prairie Cardiovascular electrophysiologist Paban Saha, MD, and a donation of pig hearts.

HSHS St. Elizabeth's promotes Diabetes Awareness Month

The HSHS Southern Illinois Division, which includes St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and sisters facilities of St. Joseph’s Hospitals in Breese and Highland, and St. Anthony’s Hospital in Effingham, have identified Diabetes as a collaborative health initiative this year. November is Diabetes Awareness Month and a committee has been formed to plan several educational events during this timeframe. The goal for this month is to provide information to the public, especially the underserved, on prevention, risks and treatment options for diabetes.
Friends donate $130,000 to enhance patient waiting areas

BELLEVILLE, IL – St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, in conjunction with the Big Latch On organization, is hosting a Big Latch On event Saturday, August 2, in St. Elizabeth’s Hospital Millennium Room, located on the first floor at 340 West Lincoln Street, Belleville, IL 62220. Mothers are encouraged to arrive by 10:00 a.m. for registration. The event runs from 10:30 to noon and is free to all participants.
