St. Elizabeth’s Hospital receives the Action Registry Get with the Guidelines Platinum Performance Achievement Award
Award demonstrates St. Elizabeth’s commitment to quality care for heart attack patients
Belleville - St. Elizabeth’s Hospital is excited to announce that they have received the American College of Cardiology Foundation’s NCDR ACTION Registry Get with the Guidelines Platinum Performance Achievement Award for 2013. The award recognizes St. Elizabeth’s outstanding commitment to quality improvement and excellence in treating high risk heart attack patients. The hospital is one of only 194 hospitals nationwide to reach this level. To achieve the award, St. Elizabeth’s Hospital adhered to the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association clinical guidelines and recommendations for coronary artery disease, high-risk STEMI and NSTEMI patients.
Hospitals must maintain a rate of performance of 90% or better for eight consecutive quarters to be eligible for the Platinum level. This is an award that measures patient demographics, provider and facility characteristics, transfer facility therapies and reperfusion strategies, adverse event rates, and compliance with ACC/AHA Clinical Guidelines recommendations. Patients are treated with the most up-to-date practices and contribute to a national standard for understanding treatment patterns, clinical outcomes, drug safety, and the overall quality of care provided to high-risk AMI patients.
“The Action Registry Get with the Guidelines Platinum Performance Achievement Award displays St. Elizabeth’s commitment to our mission. Heart attack patients will be treated with the most up-to-date procedures according to national standards,” said Bonnie Schnieder MS, RT, Manager of the Heart and Vascular Services. “We are excited and proud to be recognized for our dedication and achievements in our quality cardiac care.”
In addition to this award, St. Elizabeth’s was named one of the Nation’s Top 50 Cardiovascular Hospitals by Truven Analytics (formerly Thomson Reuters) in October 2012, and had achieved Missions Lifeline’s Silver Quality Achievement Award in May 2013 for high-quality care of the most severe forms of heart attacks.
