St. Elizabeth’s Hospital Announces Largest Private Donation for Major Gifts Campaign
A donation from late Belleville firefighter Earl L. Ritzheimer’s estate to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital has enabled St. Elizabeth’s to near the goal of its first Major Gifts campaign in more than 50 years. The donation of approximately $820,000 puts pledges for St. Elizabeth’s $3 million Major Gifts campaign at nearly $2.4 million, or 80 percent of the goal.

St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, in collaboration with Family Hospice and Hospice of Southern Illinois, announces the creation of a local Palliative Care program for patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families in our community. This is the first hospital-based palliative program in the metro-east.

Sister Joan Winkler, OSF, Provincial Superior of the Hospital Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis, announced that Stephanie McCutcheon has accepted the offer to be the new Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) President and CEO. McCutcheon was named HSHS Interim President and CEO on August 16.

Memorial Hospital And St. Elizabeth’s Hospital Fund New Communications Upgrades For Area Ambulance Services
Memorial and St. Elizabeth’s Hospitals – recognizing the key role EMS plays in our communities – have donated funds to several area ambulance services to purchase pre-hospital 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG) equipment for early intervention in treating heart health issues, including acute myocardial infarction (AMI) as patients are in route to the hospitals.

St. Elizabeth’s Hospital Receives Chest Pain Center Accreditation
The Society of Chest Pain Centers has granted the designation of Accredited Chest Pain Center to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville, IL. St. Elizabeth’s is the first hospital in the St. Louis metropolitan area to receive this accreditation; it is the third accredited Chest Pain Center in Illinois and 70th in the nation.
