HSHS ST. ELIZABETH’S HOSPITAL CANCER PROGRAM - 2017
Monitoring Compliance with Evidence-Based Guidelines
STUDY TOPIC:
All colon cancers diagnosed and/or treated at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in 2016.
O
BJECTIVE
:
To ensure compliance with evidence-based national guidelines and is appropriate for AJCC stage or other appropriate staging system, including prognostic indicators.
MEASUREMENT:
Patient age at diagnosis, comorbidities, pre-operative and pre-treatment CEA, histology, grade, colonoscopy, computed tomography chest abdomen and pelvis, and staging.
METHOD:
Retrospective chart review
RESULTS:
All 26 patients met the guidelines. Two patients were offered treatment and refused. Two patients were offered treatment but were too sick to receive chemo.
CONCLUSIONS:
100% met the guidelines.
